Vanishing Point is a new monthly series exploring musical styles, movements and personalities through live improvisation. Each month an ever-changing array of carefully curated musicians seasoned in the brave art of live improv will perform two epic sets, deconstructing individual songs by two different artists to a near infinite point, with a hypnotic assortment of psychedelic projections to accompany the ride. The first episode of Vanishing Point, Venus In The Air Tonight, will address the contradictory writing styles and personalities of Lou Reed and Phil Collins, two iconic characters who couldn’t be more dissimilar. Reed’s Venus in Furs and Collins’ In The Air Tonight will be the subject of this unique deconstruction performed by five dexterous vets from Portland's improv underground.
