Feast your x-ray eyes and intergalactic ears upon Portland’s first sci-fi cinema themed music fest, When The Future Was Now! Each Wednesday in November a stellar array of musicians, authors and visual artists will embark upon futuristic odysseys exploring themes and attitudes inherent to five distinct decades of science fiction cinema. Episode 3 - 1976 - Ashes of Utopia (Wed Nov 16th) will explore the chaotic dystopias and deadly distractions of films like Logan’s Run, Zardoz & Westworld. All of the performers for this evening are consummate improv artists and aural troubadours well prepared for the chaotic terrain and unwritten roads of dystopia. Expect expansive landscapes and prog-laden explorations with dashes of post-apocalyptic madness from this cadre of high decibel divers. Featuring Party Killer, Whoist (Humours) and Pair of Teeth (Shed, Banimal), with live visuals by Ron Mason Gassaway. Free to those dressed as androids, clones, droogs, runners, sandmen, eternals or brutals!
