Ivanhoe Nexus is a unique collaboration that has recently made its way to Portland. This group, the brainchild of composer, arranger, trombonist, and bandleader Ivan “Ivanhoe" Malespin, features a blend of original music with re-imagined takes of American folk music and jazz standards. The music is played in an Afro-Folk style, fusing together jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and the rhythms of the Caribbean. Ivanhoe will be accompanied by Sage Roatta on vocals and performance art, Ian Chirstensen on saxophones, Andrew Wilhite on acoustic bass, and Christopher Johnedis on drums.
