Grandpa's Pornograph: soft-core and hard-core porn on phonograph records, from the 1890s to the 1950s
From the 1890s to the 1960s, before the Internet, people enjoyed songs and stories about sex as much as they do today. The fact that the subject was taboo in most public entertainment only made it more enticing and exciting. Along with so-called "stag" films, mostly silent, there were phonograph records of soft-core and hard-core songs and comedy bits, often sold "under the counter" and highly illegal in many places. Dr. Demento will share some favorites from his gigantic record archive, including "Shave 'em Dry," "Davy's Dinghy" and the famous Farting Contest. Not recommended for children!
NOTE: THIS EVENT IS IN VOLLUM LECTURE HALL, NOT THE CHAPEL.
