Whether you celebrate All Hallows Eve, O Dia das Bruxas, or The Day of the Dead, do it in style at Forr'alloween: A Brazombie Dance Party, featuring z'Bumba and special guests Toque Libre.
z'Bumba plays forró (fo-HOh) dance music from Northeastern Brazil. A looming spectre it shall be: the haunting melodies of Gabriella's ghost beguile, apocalyptic accordionist Zé Raiz rattles his bellowed coffins, and a backing band of pirate percussionists pounds out pulses to wake the dead.
Special guests Toque Libre (flamenco: "free form") combine Afro-Cuban percussion, the driving flamenco-rumba guitar (think Gipsy Kings) of Mehdi Farjami, and the melodic, pop sensibilities of Chilean-born brothers Pablo and Ricardo Ojeda from Portland's legendary latin-funk group Rubberneck. It was perhaps, Bell Biv DeVoe who put it best: "Their music is free form flamenco, smooved out on the Afro-Cuban tip, with a po
