J-Sweet, godfather of Grime music, makes his first west coast appearance
in Portland Wednesday Sept. 12th, 2012. This London-based dj/producer will be unleashing
his unique and progressive form of music at Someday Lounge's monthly dance night, LIFT.
LIFT showcases artists that are pushing the envelope and leading the way in electronic
music. With a discography stretching over 10 years and three record labels under his belt,
J-Sweet is a legend in a scene of bass-heavy rhythms termed Grime.
A style of music that emerged from London in the early 2000's, Grime was primarily a
development of UK Garage, Hip-Hop and Dancehall with its origins on UK pirate radio
stations such as Rinse FM.
