The story is sadly not an unfamiliar one, but once again a band has had their gear stolen. Members of four piece, girl group, The Dead Beat, recently had an amp and several effects peddles stolen from their practice space. The worst thing about all this is that it was a fellow musician who committed the crime. For a new band this is quite a blow, as it impacts their ability to practice, book shows and write new music. The Dead Beat are Portland’s newest approach to the whole dreamy shoegaze movement. Complied of former members of Sexhair, The Maybes and Glitter Express, The Dead Beat craft dreamy melodies that echo elements of The Pastels and Jesus and Mary Chain. They are an up and coming act not to be missed. Come out and show these girls how the PDX music community doesn’t suck. They will be supporting dark pop band House of Light on tour from Berlin and locals Sundaze.
