Tonight we celebrate Oldominion’s return from the Paid Dues Festival. Oldominon brought a new voice to the indie rap scene in the early 2000s that was diverse and progressive. The unwieldy crew (this show features about half of those that rep the Owl) became known for intricate rhyme patterns, deep metaphors, dark subject matter and vivid storytelling. Each emcee brings their own style to the forefront, from Sleep’s rapid multisyllabic patterns, Onry’s deadpan storytelling, to JFK’s dark humor, Destro’s classic boom bap and Syndel’s beautiful, powerful voice. A night with the whole crew means you will run through the entire spectrum of hip hop before you even realize what’s happening.
As the only member of both Oldominion and Sandpeople, IAME has gets respect throughout the scene for his textured storytelling and honest voice.
